Dr. Heß is extensively active in the field of commercial law. A considerable focus of his work is on banking, stock exchange and capital market law. He constantly advises both domestic and foreign financial service providers and other business enterprises in all legal areas. This begins with advice on general questions of commercial law, but also extends to the representation of interests out of court and in litigation. All related peripheral areas are also dealt with and questions of foreign law are also addressed.

Representation in court is not limited to the courts of Frankfurt, but covers the whole of Germany and also includes the conduct of (foreign) arbitration proceedings. A considerable focus is placed on all questions of supervisory law and advice vis-à-vis the supervisory authorities.

Dr. Heß began working for the firm as a student assistant in 1984 and became a partner in 1995, later taking on the firm's name.

Dr. Heß studied law in Frankfurt am Main and on the basis of a scholarship at the Université de Fribourg in French-speaking Switzerland. He passed the first state examination in law and the second state examination in Frankfurt am Main. From 1988 to 1990 he was a research assistant at the chair of Dr. Hans Leo Weyers for civil, insurance and international private law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He worked for the international law firm Rogers&Wells for several months in New York as well as in Paris.

His dissertation entitled "Anlegerschutz bei Termingeschäften" (Investor Protection in Forward Transactions) dealt with the legal treatment of forward transactions under German law and foreign legal systems, with particular reference to non-credit institutions.

Dr. Heß regularly publishes on topics of capital market law and other topics of business law. He also lectures on business law topics with a focus on capital markets law issues in the context of training courses and continuing education (IHK, TSG training courses, banks).

Dr. Heß is a member of the Frankfurt Law Society and the Banking Law Association.

Dr. Heß is fluent in English and speaks French and some Spanish.

Dr. Heß has been a lecturer for financial market law at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences for several years.
